Octavia Green Psychotherapy
I am a fully qualified psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP). I have come to my career in psychotherapy after living a storied life in the music industry in London. Being a mother to two teenagers also gives me a rich set of life experiences to enhance my understanding.

Clients often come to therapy feeling completely overwhelmed, and may also be navigating neurodiversity and complex mental health issues.
My approach is to go on a journey of discovery and exploration with you, as my client, by giving space to the unspoken and what can be buried deeply within. Building connection is essential for you to feel safe enough to trust that I can withstand and hold a safe space for potentially stormy rides. Once our alliance is in place, we slow down and discuss your personal experience to discover what is happening with emotions and feelings within your mind and body. I can help you to make links between past and present behaviours and emotions as a means of understanding what belongs to the ‘there and then’ and what belongs to the ‘here and now’.
Essential defences may have been built in the past that are no longer serving you in your present life.
I hope to give you a voice and a chance to stabilise and separate different factors in your life. This allows us to explore smaller parts, ease feelings of overwhelm, and support you in advocating for yourself as you move toward a sense of peace and equilibrium.
I have a special interest in working with addiction. Using honesty and truth about where clients are at in their addiction enables me to create a plan. This may entail detox, treatment, rehabilitation care, or simply weekly therapy sessions. My work is trauma informed and the client’s wellbeing and safety are always at the heart of my work. I have specialist training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and regularly incorporate DBT skills training into my work with addiction. Our therapy sessions help clients understand the addictive cycle, manage emotions, build resilience, and develop healthier coping strategies.
I believe in a holistic therapeutic approach. I encourage connection through grounding techniques and somatic breathing. I also make suggestions of alternative somatic therapy treatments to compliment our work together.
As a certified Mental Health First Aider I support people in crisis, particularly around substance use and alcoholism. Through my involvement in the global Network for Women in Mental Health and Addiction Network, I stay connected to leading-edge thinking and practice, drawing on a rich community of clinicians, rehabilitation centres, and recovery professionals to inform and enhance the support I offer.
Each therapy session lasts 50 minutes and takes place on a weekly basis.
The standard fee is £70 per session. I also offer a limited number of reduced-fee spaces for individuals on low income or students. Please contact me to inquire about availability.
Our first session will serve as an introductory meeting, allowing us to discuss your needs and determine if I am the right fit to support you.
Therapy can be either open-ended or time-limited, depending on what feels most appropriate for you. We will agree on the best approach together at the outset.
Sessions are usually scheduled at the same time each week. If you need to reschedule, I may be able to accommodate alternative arrangements depending on availability.
I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed sessions, will incur the full session fee. This policy ensures that time reserved for you can be offered to others in need of support.
If this sounds like a way of working that will support you, please get in touch. I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation. I look forward to hearing from you.
You can also call or WhatsApp me on +44 7956 283 854 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first.
